Belize Advances Discussions Toward Membership in the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal

Belize City, May 29th, 2025

Today, the Hon. Michel Chebat, Minister of Public Utilities, Energy & Logistics, held a pivotal meeting with Dr. Franklin Castro, Secretary General of the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal (PUASP), to discuss Belize’s interest in becoming a member country of the PUASP.
 
The meeting focused on strengthening regional collaboration and enhancing Belize’s integration into the international postal network. Minister Chebat expressed Belize’s commitment to modernizing its postal services and aligning with global standards through partnerships like PUASP, which foster cooperation and development across its member states.
 
Also in attendance was the Ministry’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Leroy Almendarez, who underscored the strategic importance of Belize’s participation in PUASP in advancing digital transformation and logistical efficiency within the postal sector.
 
The meeting included key representatives from both the Ministry and the PUASP delegation, who engaged in meaningful dialogue on the benefits, responsibilities, and opportunities associated with PUASP membership.
 
This engagement marks a significant step in Belize’s efforts to enhance regional and international connectivity through sustainable and innovative postal solutions.
